And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
I'm not big on the bible, or as Bill Maher calls it, "the Book of Jewish Fairy Tales."
That said, there are some very fine thoughts, mixed in with some of the more outrageous parables. These recountings and fanciful ditties make for some interesting and thought-provoking storytelling. So much so that millions dedicate their lives to it. It's right up there with Harry Potter.
But trying to believe in the entire work and using it as the beacon of how we should live our lives is a bit incongruous, a substantial stretch to this agnostic. Maybe it's meant to be taken with a grain of salt. Let's ask Lot and his wife, (who BTW, Jesus left nameless. Leave it to a guy.)
Now let's talk about Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and how he fits into this bible diatribe. He's a physician by trade. Yeah, that windbag actually went to medical school and passed his medical board exams. Fortunately, he no longer practices. It could be because his Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensing now requires doctors to pass a psychological evaluation every five years.
This could pose a challenge for this member of the flat-earth society.
Here's some of his latest rubbish. Let's take climate change. It's a scientific topic, he's an educated man of science, this should be right up his ally. When asked about it recently, he didn't mince words when it comes to his position on climate change.
“I am a global warming denier. I don’t deny that,” he said during a Monday speech at the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce, according to the Tulsa World.
He's not only a global warming denier, he's gone to the other extreme. Also to the Tulsa World News:
Coburn leaned on his science credentials to assert that evidence shows the Earth is headed for a “mini-ice age.”
Sadly this isn't an isolated incident of TC's craziness. It's brought down the House (in laughter) with his all out lies that reconstructive surgery after breast cancer won't be covered under Obamacare... or how so many girls are lesbians, teachers in school will only let one girl at a time go to the bathroom. At least I hope he means at a time and not just one girl get's to go per day. Watch this short clip and I promise you'll be shaking your head just as Rachel Maddow does hers.
Now if this isn't enough to make you question his sanity (and hence his fear of taking he psychological evaluation for re-licensing) he's added to his craziness the proponent position on an Obama impeachment. He tagged with his suggestion we move ahead with this charge with the fact he's not a lawyer so he doesn't know on what grounds. But as a doctor, he feels he does. Really? There's a blood test for that, Tom? Look out world. Obama's got IPTIB disorder -- iron poor, tired impeachment blood. Let's boot him out of office.
I quote it again, "Physician, heal thyself."
What is it they say, Dr. Tom, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?" The prevention in this case is a muzzle. You're from the Sooner State. You've probably got all sorts of muzzles hanging around. Pick one and use it. Thank you.
